It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas: The Christmas Craft Booth!

You guys know from my 5 Craft Booth Tips from a Beginner post that I am still a beginner at this whole craft booth thing. I'm loving it, but I feel like I'm always learning what works and what doesn't. I need to do a follow up post because I have way more than 5 craft booth tips now!

Last month I learned that Christmas starts way earlier than I ever imagined. I work at the store two times a week as well, and I noticed that in October, other dealers started setting up Christmas stuff. You want to know the crazy part? Customers were buying Christmas items in October!

So, I kicked it into high gear and worked on Christmas items. Here's what I have so far:

The biggest change in my booth is that I added shelves. I quickly realized with my original booth setup,  actually attaching items and frames to the wall made it look bad when customers bought the items. There would be empty spots and it just looked like chaos. So, I installed shelves and I put the left over frames in a large basket:

This allows me to change items around easily. When something sells from the shelves, I put a frame from the basket up there or bring in new items. Easy peasy, right?

The best part is that I'm not wasting floor space with another book shelf. Andddd the shelves only cost me around $20 to make. I simply bought wood shelf pieces at Home Depot, stained them, and then bought 6 white brackets to hang them. Yippee!

It didn't seem right not to have a Christmas tree and other Christmas-y decor, so I set up a pre-lit Christmas tree (that I found for $25 at a garage sale-- yessss), put peppermint candy lights on the shelves (also found at a garage sale for $1), and I added some garland and Christmas lights to the front of the booth.

Of course, the Christmas tree also doubles as a display for all of the fun ornaments that I'm selling. They're a mixture of handmade ornaments and ones that I've found at thrift stores and garage sales.

I shared how to make the scrabble one above on Feel Good Style, if you're interested.

On the other side, I have another book shelf and a few other awesome items hanging on the wall.

My favorite piece in the entire booth is the window that my mom hand painted. It says "I will choose to enjoy the journey that God has set before me"-- so awesome! She's already sold several hand painted windows at the Revolutionaries booth in Florida.

In the middle, I have a few pieces as well, like the paisley drum side table and a stool that I use for displaying small fabric items like fabric napkins, doilies, and placemats.

I also have peppermints in the little drum bucket-- which, as I shared on Facebook yesterday, I've been shamefully eating all of them....

I've never been so proud of my booth-- it looks so full! Special thanks to my friends Crystal and Jhonny for helping me hang the shelves and decorating (aka doing all of the major work). You guys rock!

So what do you guys think? Would you add or change anything?

Exciting Announcement: Revolutionaries Craft & Furniture Booth in Florida!

As you guys know, I currently have a craft/furniture booth in Monroe, GA (close to where I live). I am excited to announce that Revolutionaries will have a second location in Umatilla, FL!

My mom lives in Florida, so she will be creating and managing everything in the booth, but we have very similar styles-- after all, I got all of my craftiness and thriftiness from her! She already sold a desk in the first week so she's rocking it! Here's a little sneak peek of what it looks like so far:

She was a teacher so she'll have a lot of awesome teacher stuff like this burlap banner:

I'm hoping to have some before/after posts of her furniture projects and possibly some step-by-step tutorials of her crafts!

So, with all of that said, who will be visiting the Revolutionaries booth in Florida?! Let me know if you ever stop by!

Craft Booth Ideas: Lantern Jewelry Display

For those of you who are new around here, I have a craft booth in a local antique store. I'm always looking for items to redo and sell, or use as a display. I especially like to upcycle items that I can feature over at Crafting a Green World. I found this old lantern at a thrift store-- the glass sides were obviously broken out and it was just the metal shell. Even so, I knew I could make it into something awesome.

Enter, chicken wire. Really quick, though, I want to say that all the bloggers that ever wrote about chicken wire didn't tell me what a pain in the booty it is! It's hard to work with and it hurts! Once you're done hurting yourself with chicken wire you will also need wire cutters and other little accessories to decorate the lantern. You might also want use gloves when working with the chicken wire.

How To Do It:

1. Clean it up. Thrift store gunk is yuck.

2. Roll out your chicken wire. Again, this is difficult, so ask for assistance!

3. Measure the inside of your lantern to see how long the chicken wire needs to be. Or, you can be lazy like me, and wrap the chicken wire around the outside of your lantern and guestimate the length. Then, use your wire cutters to cut it.

4. Put the chicken wire inside of the lantern and form it around the edges. Cut off any excess wire.

5. Wrap the ends of the chicken wire together. You should be able to unite them pretty well, so you won't notice the seam.

6. Cut off any excess wire from the top. I would recommend leaving a little bit extra, though, so you can wrap it around the edges. This will help keep the chicken wire in place and give it a little more stability.

7. Put the lid back on top, and you're ready to accessorize! You could use it to display your jewelry:

or use it as a welcome sign/memo board

You could also put a large candle or seasonal decorations inside, too!

What would you put in it or on it? Leave a comment with your ideas below.
