(Disclosure: Paint-A-Pillow gave me a free pillow kit in exchange for this review. However, all opinions are my own.)

You guys know I'm all about an awesome stencil, right? I've created a paisley drum table, paisley cedar chest, stenciled bookshelf and more with the help of Cutting Edge Stencils. Now, they've created a sister company called Paint-A-Pillow, which combines their awesome reusable stencils with pillows! I've been looking for pillows for my living room for a long time, but couldn't find anything that I loved and went with the color theme. The concept of receiving a fluffy pillow insert, a lovely linen cover, choosing an incredible design, and choosing beautiful colors that match my decor perfectly -- um... am I in heaven? You can add more than one color at checkout and you can add embellishments like tassels, rhinestones, flowers, and studs, too!

I chose the Indian Arrows stencil with Ruby Red, Turquoise, and Black fabric paint. This isn't just any paint -- it dries soft and it's washable once you heat-set the paint, which is totally awesome if you have a crazy pup (like me) or kiddos.

Once I ordered my pillow, I received the cutest stencil kit! Even the packaging was impressive! I love it when companies care about the "little" details.

The cardboard frame around the pillow cover holds the stencil in place while you're painting away!

Follow the simple directions included in the kit and you'll have a custom pillow in no time. I did one red/black:

And the other one turquoise/black:

(Side note: a typical kit comes with one pillow cover, but you can order additional blank ones like I did to create multiple pillows.)

Don't they go beautifully with my embroidery hoop collage?

From start to finish (including the time it took for them to dry), I had new pillows in less than 2 hours! Yippee!

DIY Furniture Projects: Upcycle a Stool into an Awesome Stenciled Table (+ a giveaway!)

Between my paisley drum table and paisley painted cedar chest, it's no secret that I love stencils! They add personality, color, and just happiness to any piece of furniture or room. After receiving a new stencil to review from Cutting Edge Stencils called the Charlotte Allover Stencil, I planned out an awesome project in my head. And then, I found out that I'm moving. I'm holding on to that project idea for my next house, but for now, I'm trying out some incredible furniture projects with the stencil!

My first project:

I started with an old stool (I ripped off the yucky foam/cover) and a tray that I found at a thrift store:

What You Will Need:

1. Two colors of paint. I used black spray paint and white latex paint.

2. Your favorite Cutting Edge Stencil!

3. Painter's tape

4. A small foam roller. You can find lots of stencil supplies on the Cutting Edge Stencil website!

How To Do It:

1. Spray paint your stool base.

2. If your tray needs to be painted, paint it too! Mine was originally plain wood, and I painted it black a long time ago.

3.  Get your paint ready. I'm all high class around here, so I used two foam plates -- one for the paint and another to roll out any excess paint. I like to roll off the excess before painting over my stencil because it helps prevent bleed-through.

4.  Arrange the stencil on your tray.

5. I realized that mine wasn't going to lay completely flat because of the raised edge on my tray, so I had to tape it down with painter's tape.

6. Once I painted the middle portion of the stencil, I removed one piece of painter's tape at a time, pressed the stencil down, and painted that section with my foam roller. Ideally, try to choose a tray or piece of wood that doesn't have a raised edge. The stencil is much easier to use if you have a flat surface. Here's what it looked like once I was finished painting:

7. After the paint dried, I decided to sand over it a bit to distress it. I wanted it to look like an old doily.

8. Attach your tray to the stool. You can screw the tray to the top of the stool, or you can use an industrial strength glue. I chose to use the industrial strength glue because I didn't want to see screws on the top of my table. Oh and don't forget to measure and center your tray on the stool!

Now it's finished! What do you think?!

Meet Someone New: Becky from Glue and Glitter + A Giveaway for "40 Days of Green Smoothies"

Happy Tuesday, friends! Don't you just love, love, love meeting all of these new people on Meet Someone New?! (Please say yes)

The next person I'd like to introduce you guys to is Becky from Glue and Glitter. I work with her over at Crafting a Green World, which makes her even cooler! When she sent me an email saying she'd love to give away a copy of her ebook 40 Days of Green Smoothies, I was all over it. With all our of New Year resolutions to get fit (please tell me I'm not the only one?), her book is perfectionnnnn. So, enough from me-- on to Becky!

Hi there! I'm Becky Striepe from the blog Glue and Glitter, a site dedicated to making vegan food and crafts accessible and fun! I also work with Bonnie at Crafting a Green World, a site that I bet you guys are already familiar with, since you love Bonnie.

I'm thrilled that Bonnie has asked me to guest post today and give away a copy of my green smoothie book: 40 Days of Green Smoothies. The book actually started out as a personal challenge during Lent a few years ago. Instead of giving up something bad, I wanted to start a good habit and drink a smoothie every day for the full six weeks. I had so much fun coming up with recipes and sharing them on my site, and when it was all done I realized that I had more than just a stack of recipes.

With a little bit of tweaking and a lot of recipe-testing, my little Lent experiment became a plan for starting a healthy green smoothie habit! The book features a different smoothie recipe for each day along with weekly tips and shopping lists to help you drink healthy green smoothies without breaking your budget.

I hope that you'll join me and start a healthy smoothie habit for the new year!

< 3,
Becky
