Sorry I've been MIA this month! Between work and recording in Nashville with Crystal Padilla Music, it's been an exciting, but busy month! I have tons of furniture projects to share with you guys, though, so let's jump right in! In April my Mom and I found this adorable kitchen island at Goodwill for $30! It's a dresser that was converted into a kitchen island (complete with wood top and beadboard back)!
I actually loved the white color, especially since I planned to sell it, but I wished the details would pop out a little more. Instead of painting the entire piece, I decided to sand the piece lightly and simply glaze it!
I used Paint Couture's Light Brown Sugar glaze. It brought out all of the unique details of the dresser and the beadboard. I also spray painted the wheels black (and then sealed with spray polycrylic) because I felt like the gold dated the piece a bit.
Are you ready for the subtle but amazing after?
I had every intention to sell this piece. After all, I had my own kitchen island that I purchased a few months ago! One day, though, this piece randomly wandered into my kitchen.. and I fell in love! So, the old island will get a makeover and head to my craft / furniture booth at some point.
What do you think?
Is it bad that I'm contemplating painting it a bright color like teal or red now that I'm keeping it? Haha!
