(Disclosure: Paint-A-Pillow gave me a free pillow kit in exchange for this review. However, all opinions are my own.)

You guys know I'm all about an awesome stencil, right? I've created a paisley drum table, paisley cedar chest, stenciled bookshelf and more with the help of Cutting Edge Stencils. Now, they've created a sister company called Paint-A-Pillow, which combines their awesome reusable stencils with pillows! I've been looking for pillows for my living room for a long time, but couldn't find anything that I loved and went with the color theme. The concept of receiving a fluffy pillow insert, a lovely linen cover, choosing an incredible design, and choosing beautiful colors that match my decor perfectly -- um... am I in heaven? You can add more than one color at checkout and you can add embellishments like tassels, rhinestones, flowers, and studs, too!

I chose the Indian Arrows stencil with Ruby Red, Turquoise, and Black fabric paint. This isn't just any paint -- it dries soft and it's washable once you heat-set the paint, which is totally awesome if you have a crazy pup (like me) or kiddos.

Once I ordered my pillow, I received the cutest stencil kit! Even the packaging was impressive! I love it when companies care about the "little" details.

The cardboard frame around the pillow cover holds the stencil in place while you're painting away!

Follow the simple directions included in the kit and you'll have a custom pillow in no time. I did one red/black:

And the other one turquoise/black:

(Side note: a typical kit comes with one pillow cover, but you can order additional blank ones like I did to create multiple pillows.)

Don't they go beautifully with my embroidery hoop collage?

Mantle Ideas: Adding a Bit of Color!

The greatest part of my faux fireplace is that I could take it with me when I moved into the new rental! It's the first thing you see when you walk into the house, so I wanted it to look awesome. With the rush of moving in, though, it's looked like this:

Mantle Ideas: Adding a Bit of Color!

It's not awful, but it's not great. The embroidery hoop collage was relocated above the couch at the new house, and I wanted to tie in all of the bright colors. I was scared to make such a big change, but it was time to add color to the mantle. Instead of a boring brown, I spray painted the frame "Seaside" by Rustoleum.

When I put the frame back on the mantle, it was way too bright, so I distressed the frame with a sanding block and then glazed it with Martha Stewart's Muscovado metallic glaze. I don't like what Martha said about bloggers, but the woman makes an awesome and affordable glaze ($4-$5).

The glaze just took it over the top and I got so giddy about the result! It brought out all of the details of the frame and toned down the color. Perfection!

It's still a work in progress, but here's the mantle now:

I grabbed my "custom" mason jar candles, books, and a few other accessories. I got the typewriter art from my Mom for my birthday -- it's oh so adorable and from Ikea! All of the other accessories are from thrift stores or garage sales.

Here's a side by side before and after:

Even though the next picture is a grainy iPhone picture, I wanted to show the rest of the room so you can see how it ties everything together. The panoramic feature on my iPhone is fun!

Disclosure: The Bouqs Co. sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers in exchange for this review.  In addition, there are affiliate links in this post. All opinions are 100% my own.

Hey friends! I've missed you all so much! I've been super busy and I've added more hours to my job at the antique store, so furniture projects and DIY mason jar projects are at the bottom of the list! Even so, I've been working on some projects and I'll get them on here slowly but surely.

The key to the new rental house is repurposing items that I already have and turning them into bright, fun, and functional decor. I finally parted with the sheet music tree centerpiece when we moved, and I decided that I wanted to create a centerpiece with a bunch of mason jars. Then, one day I saw these short pillar candles.

To be honest with you, I bought them because they're $2.50 and I refuse to pay $10+ for a candle. That's when it hit me:

Let's be real here... I'd love to make my own candle in mason jars, or buy the $25 ones that are already made, but I currently don't have the time or money for those.

To help the jars pop a little more on the black table, I put two white washed craft boards underneath. You can buy craft boards at your local hardware store for less than $2.00 each and quickly white wash them. (They're the same ones I use for my DIY photography backdrop.)

Another essential part of an awesome centerpiece: fresh flowers from The Bouqs

Guys, I adore these flowers! I mean, just look at how beautiful they are! They were delivered in an adorable box and were wrapped with care. I was stunned at how perfect they were even after delivery.

I also appreciate that The Bouqs Company doesn't cut any flowers until they are ordered -- which saves time, money, energy, and creates less waste. Oh, and did I mention that they grow the flowers on an active volcano? Yes, a stinkin' volcano! If you want to learn more about this awesome business, check out their about us page.

Ladies, this is the perfect flower company to suggest to your man. They have a concierge service where he can schedule flowers in advance, so he'll never forget a birthday or anniversary again!

I cut the flowers a bit and put them into a large mason jar in the middle of my mason jar candles. Isn't it so lovely?

The dining room in the new rental home is finally coming along! I just need curtains for the window.
