This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Sharpie, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #NeonSharpie http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.
Like I shared last week, I'm in charge of creating a Halloween photo booth for the student ministry at my church. I want it to be epic! I showed you guys how I made a DIY photo booth backdrop, and now, here's how I made neon photo booth props with the help of Sharpie!
Did you know that Sharpie has neon colors?! Well, they do. And they rock my socks off. Plus, neon is really "in" right now, so I knew the students would love them. Here's how you can make your own neon photobooth props!
What You Will Need:
1. Neon Sharpies. I bought the 5 pack with this $1 coupon from Target. I picked up some black Sharpies as well for outlining and such.
2. White cardboard. I used two large sheets.
3. Wooden dowels
4. Hot glue/hot glue gun
How To Do It:
1. Brain storm about what kind of props you would like to have. Of course, I scoured Pinterest for ideas! You can find awesome Sharpie ideas on Sharpie's Pinterest page, too!
2. Once I determined the props that I wanted, I googled clip art images to trace. You see, I'm not much of a drawer, so I like to google images, put thin white paper up to my computer screen, and lightly trace the image. I made patterns of each prop and then transferred them to my white cardboard like so:
I also created a large polka dot frame:
3. Then, I became a child again (aka I started coloring)! It was so fun seeing each of the props come to life with the bright neon colors of the Sharpies.
4. Hot glue a wooden dowel to each prop and you're ready to go!
Here's how they turned out:
I created Halloween classics like a pumpkin, a skull, and a pirate eye patch:
I made some fun glasses, a bat mask, lips with fangs, and a polka-dot bow tie!
For all of the princesses, I made a crown... and for all of the manly men, a beard and striped bow tie.
My personal favorite is this kitty cat mask-- the neon pink accents really pop against the black! Oh, and I made a spooky eye ball and Frankenstein, too.
Finally, to tie everything together, I taped several spooky neon orange spiders to the photo booth back drop:
I can't wait for the students to see everything!
I love how all of the colors pop against the chevron background! Once we set everything up at the church, I'm hoping to have some black lights to take it to the next level-- yup, the Neon Sharpies illuminate even more with black lights!
Do you know what else I appreciate about Neon Sharpies? The ink is permanent so I don't have to worry about the colors coming off on the students or other furniture. Plus, it has AP Certified ink non-toxic ink that is water, smear, and fade resistant-- meaning I'll be able to use these props for other occasions as well!
So... basically, let's color all of the things, people!
Target is oh-so-awesome and is offering this $1 off coupon to purchase the 5 pack of Neon Sharpies (while supplies last and in select stores).
