Wagner Flexio 890 Sprayer Review & Bathroom Before and After

Disclosure: I received the Wagner Flexio 890 Sprayer for free in exchange for this review. Even so, all opinions are my own. This post also contains affiliate links.

Hey, friends! I'm so excited to share another fantastic paint sprayer and a bathroom before and after with you guys! Before we get to the before and after, let's go over the main features of the Wagner Flexio 890 Paint Sprayer! There's plenty more to see and learn in the instruction manual, but I want to focus on a few features that I really love about this machine!

The entire system can be stored in the box it comes in, which is so convenient (especially when my garage is a hott mess and I can't find anything when I need it).

Something that sets this sprayer apart from the rest is that it comes with two spray nozzles! The iSpray Nozzle has a 1 and a half quart cup and is for larger projects. The Detail Finish Nozzle has a 20 fluid ounce cup and is for smaller projects. I love the ability to use either nozzle based on the size of my project. For example, I used the Detail Finish Nozzle on the project below because it was a small project. In the future I might be able to work on two projects at once, too, by switching back and forth between the two nozzles.

With one simple turn/switch, you can change the spray pattern (horizontal and vertical) and adjust the spray width. This really helps to ensure your paint is going exactly where you want it (which means less overspray and no wasted paint)!

You can also change the paint flow by turning the red knob on the back of the gun. This basically allows more or less paint to come out of the sprayer. If you're working with a thicker material, you'll most likely keep the flow control high. For thinner materials, you'll most likely keep the flow control low.

The air hose connects at the front of the power box and then the other end connects to the back of the sprayer like so:

The handle has to be twisted to lock it into place. This was hard for me to figure out at first (I didn't push it forward enough), but once I got the hang of it, it was easy peasy! I like that the handle and air hose lock into place -- when you're really into painting and moving the air hose around (or you know, dancing while painting, perhaps), it helps that it's totally secure.

The on/off switch is not only on the front of the power box, but there's also one on the handle. At first it seemed silly to have two, but it was so nice to turn the machine on/off in a moment's notice.

On the top of the handle is the X-Boost Power. This knob adjusts the air pressure going through the gun. It's hard to explain so I'm going to quote the instruction manual: "A high air power level will result in faster coverage and a smoother finish with thicker materials. Lowering the air power will result in larger drops of material being sprayed from the gun, and will create a slightly rougher finish."

If you're intimidated, don't be! The instruction manual has a detailed chart on the recommended material flow and air power settings for different types of coatings/materials. Part of the process is practicing, too! And guess what? Wagner totally thought about that! Check out this awesome practice poster:

Now, for the before and after!

My roommate, Crystal, wanted to redo her bathroom. Here's what it looked like before:

It's a small and awkward space with very little storage. This has the #RentalProbs series written all over it. She wanted to put a storage cabinet on the little empty wall across from the toilet:

Unfortunately, a cabinet just didn't work... the space was too small. One day at Hodge Podge, though, I found this adorable ladder shelf. It was like it was meant for the space!

It had some wear and tear, but nothing a little paint couldn't fix! Crystal chose a fun, bright green to match a picture frame she bought for the room. Enter, the detail finish nozzle! After hanging up plastic sheeting behind my work space and covering the floor with drop cloths, I sanded and painted this cutie in less than 30 minutes total! All the nooks and crannies of this piece seemed like nothing with the sprayer. The coverage was incredible, too! It. was. awesome.

I finished the piece with a brown metallic glaze to tone down the bright green color and this is how it looked after:

With a few mason jars and accessories, it's perfect for her bathroom!

Is it bad that I'm jealous of her bathroom now!?

Overall thoughts on the Wagner Flexio 890 Sprayer:

While the sprayer requires a little extra prep work (like covering my work area with plastic sheeting and drop cloths), the professional quality finish is worth it! It also cuts my painting time in half (if not more). The machine does have a loud hum, but it's no where near the noise I've heard from other sprayers. Overall, it's an awesome machine that I will continue to use! Hey friends! I've missed you all so much! I've been super busy and I've added more hours to my job at the antique store, so furniture projects and DIY mason jar projects are at the bottom of the list! Even so, I've been working on some projects and I'll get them on here slowly but surely.

The key to the new rental house is repurposing items that I already have and turning them into bright, fun, and functional decor. I finally parted with the sheet music tree centerpiece when we moved, and I decided that I wanted to create a centerpiece with a bunch of mason jars. Then, one day I saw these short pillar candles.

To be honest with you, I bought them because they're $2.50 and I refuse to pay $10+ for a candle. That's when it hit me:

Let's be real here... I'd love to make my own candle in mason jars, or buy the $25 ones that are already made, but I currently don't have the time or money for those.

To help the jars pop a little more on the black table, I put two white washed craft boards underneath. You can buy craft boards at your local hardware store for less than $2.00 each and quickly white wash them. (They're the same ones I use for my DIY photography backdrop.)

Another essential part of an awesome centerpiece: fresh flowers from The Bouqs

Guys, I adore these flowers! I mean, just look at how beautiful they are! They were delivered in an adorable box and were wrapped with care. I was stunned at how perfect they were even after delivery.

I also appreciate that The Bouqs Company doesn't cut any flowers until they are ordered -- which saves time, money, energy, and creates less waste. Oh, and did I mention that they grow the flowers on an active volcano? Yes, a stinkin' volcano! If you want to learn more about this awesome business, check out their about us page.

Ladies, this is the perfect flower company to suggest to your man. They have a concierge service where he can schedule flowers in advance, so he'll never forget a birthday or anniversary again!

I cut the flowers a bit and put them into a large mason jar in the middle of my mason jar candles. Isn't it so lovely?

The dining room in the new rental home is finally coming along! I just need curtains for the window.

Creating an Awesome Entryway with Way Basics

Disclosure: Way Basics sent me several free shelves in exchange for a review. However, all opinions are 100% my own.

Do you remember from the New House Reveal post how my front door opens right up into the living room? It doesn't really bother me except for the fact that my roomie and I don't have any where to put our "stuff." Our keys, purses, etc. end up in a pile on the floor, which isn't the cutest.

Way Basics has sleek and modern wall shelves that are the perfect addition to our entryway. I received a total of 4 shelves, but for now, I'm showing you what I did with one. The shelves are so versatile and are pretty easy to install.

(Side note: their organizational products are made out of 99% recycled paper which makes me even more happy!)

In the package, you will receive instructions on how to install the shelves, wall anchors, and screws. I had every intention of taking photos of the installation process, but these were the only photos I took:

It's really hard to install the shelves and take pictures at the same time
Here's a screen shot though of the super simple instructions from Way Basics:

I really loved that the bracket and the shelf were two separate pieces, which made hanging easy compared to other floating shelves. Even with the level, though, my shelf was a little off, so make sure you double check your level (and have an extra set of hands).

Now our keys can sit in this adorable vintage dish and we can pile our mail in style!

I can't wait to show you what I did with the remaining shelves!
