About a month ago I shared this Chalkboard Business Card Holder over at Crafting a Green World and I wanted to share it with you guys today! I recently did a makeover on my craft booth to tone down some of the bright colors (more on that in a later post). I wanted to change up the way I displayed my business cards and this is what I came up with-- a chalkboard teacup!
What You Will Need:
1. A teacup. I bought mine from a thrift store.
2. Chalkboard paint. I used the spray kind, but I think either kind would work well.
3. Painter's tape
How To Do It:
1. Clean your teacup of all that thrift store gunk.
2. Tape off the areas that you don't want to paint. I taped off the top and inside of the cup. I quickly realized, though, that I could get the same result by turning the cup over and spray painting it that way.
3. Spray paint it! I did several light coats to get the best results.
4. Follow the instructions on your chalkboard paint label as far as dry time and cure time goes. Whatever you do, don't try to write on it as soon as it's dry... not that I tried to do that or anything...
Once the teacup has completely "cured," you can write on it! Since I'm using mine for my craft booth, I plan on writing "Take one!" or something along those lines.
Here are some other ideas that I've thought of:
-- Give it as a teacher's gift with the teacher's name or "#1 Teacher" written on it
-- Put it on your office desk with your name on it
-- Place candy or mints inside
-- If you're selling small items like beads, separate them into several chalkboard teacups. You can label them on the teacup with the description and price.
What would you do with a chalkboard teacup? Share your ideas with me!
